Brewser’s helps ‘Keep Our Kids Warm’ to purchase winterwear

COAL TOWNSHIP — Since its inception in 2011, Brewser’s Sports Grille has generously donated money used toward the purchase of winter outwear and blankets for hundreds of kids throughout the Shamokin, CoalTownship, Kulpmont and Mount Carmel areas.

Eachyear, Brewser’s sets aside a week for this fundraising effort in which they will donate $1 from every check over $20 to ensure that no child will be without a warm winter coat. This year’s event will take place the week of Nov. 2 to 8. To date, nearly 400 winter coats have been distributed to childrenin need.

Taking the lead from Brewser’s generosity, the Shamokin Knights of Columbus has donated cases of warm coats to this cause. In addition, the CommunityActionAgency (CSO) has also instituted various fundraisers during the year to ensure that kids throughout other areas of Northumberland, Columbia and Montour counties also benefit from the “Keep Our KidsWarm” project.

Throughout the years, Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township has awarded significant discounts to help stretch winter coat purchasing dollars. Last, but certainlynot least, a big “hats off ” must be given to the Knit Wits, a group fromNottinghamVillage in Northumberland which has knitted with love, hundreds of hats, scarves and mittens. If you have a child in need of a warm winter coat or are interested in donating to this worthy cause, contact CSO at 570- 644-6575.
